James Neish K.C. is a consultant and accepts instructions occasionally in special cases. He has been recognised as one of Gibraltar’s leading litigators having appeared regularly before the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Market sources identified him as a “heavyweight litigator” and as a benchmark for Gibraltar’s dispute resolution market. He has appeared in key court cases in the fields of public and private law.

James graduated from the University of Nottingham, and was called to the Bar in England and Wales, and then Gibraltar, in 1979. He joined Louis W. Triay the same year, forming a partnership with him shortly afterwards. He was appointed notary public in 1985 and took silk in 1999.

He is a member of the Judicial Service Commission, and a former Chairman of the General Council of the Bar in Gibraltar. From 2000 to 2006, he was a member of the Financial Services Commission.
