Guy Stagnetto’s expertise in the field of construction law in Gibraltar is almost certainly unparalleled. He has advised Government, private developers and bankers on most of Gibraltar’s main developments over the last 20 + years including the Gibraltar Airport Tunnel and the Airport Terminal. His involvement extended to the resulting dispute relating to the tunnel and the ensuing litigation resulted in a successful judgment of the Technology and Construction Court in England in April 2014 in favour of the Government of Gibraltar. He is currently advising in relation to the New Power Station and LNG Plant.

Guy is also one of the firms leading litigators, with experience in all courts in Gibraltar. His litigation work ranges from general commercial matters to medical negligence, administrative law, trust disputes and admiralty law. In a number of high-profile judicial reviews, he has represented the Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation, the Judicial Service Commission and the Gibraltar Health Authority.

He is regularly asked to advise on ship arrest work in Gibraltar, representing a variety of PI clubs, banks and ship owners. In 2017 he dealt with the arrest of the Sailing Yacht “A” which was covered by the international press.

Guy read law at Queen Mary College, London University, and completed his Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law. He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in England in 1992 and Gibraltar in 1993. He took Silk in 2016. He was an elected member of the Gibraltar Bar Council between 1995 and 2016 as well as a member of a variety of statutory bodies.
