James J. Neish QC is recognised as one of Gibraltar’s leading litigators, appearing regularly before the Gibraltar Court of Appeal, as well as the Supreme Court. Market sources identify James as a “heavyweight litigator” and as a benchmark for Gibraltar’s dispute resolution market. He appears in key court cases and judicial reviews, and is recognised as an expert in international insolvency law.
James completed his law degree at Nottingham University, and was called to the Bar in England and Wales, and then Gibraltar, in 1979. He joined Louis W. Triay the same year, forming a partnership with him shortly afterwards. He was appointed notary public in 1985 and took silk in 1999.
He is a member of the Judicial Service Commission, and a former Chairman of the General Council of the Bar in Gibraltar. From 2000 to 2006, he was a member of the Financial Services Commission.
