Profile

Owen is a senior member of TSN’s dispute resolution team with a breadth of experience in key litigation sectors including, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, professional negligence, admiralty and family.

He regularly appears for clients in the Supreme Court of Gibraltar and the Court of Appeal. With a particular specialism in defendant work, Owen counts Government utilities such as the health authority, water and electricity utilities as well as Gibraltar’s most prominent international bank amongst his clients.

Owen has worked on a number of Gibraltar’s recent high profile cases, alongside colleagues in chambers, including the high profile arrest of Sailing Yacht A, acting for the US Trustee for the liquidation of the business of Bernard Madoff in various Gibraltar actions, representing clients in litigation against Chevron, acting in high value multi-jurisdictional family settlements and representing a prominent international bank. Owen is one of a small number of senior Gibraltar practitioners that maintains a criminal defence practice, and regularly represents clients before Gibraltarian juries.

Owen is a leading member of TSN’s Fintech Team and has a rapidly growing practice in this emerging area of Gibraltar’s Finance Centre. TSN regularly advise clients in relation to Distributed Ledger Technology regulations, token generating events and related financial services legislation.

Owen read law at the University of Wales College of Cardiff, and undertook his Bar Professional Training Course at the College of Law in London. He was called to the bar in England in 2000. He pursued a legal career in London before relocating to Gibraltar, where he was called to the Bar in February 2003.

Outside of work Owen enjoys competing in Olympic distance triathlons and running half marathons. He has a keen interest in music and culture running Gibraltar’s 6,000 capacity food festival “Calentita” and 15,000 capacity Gibraltar Music Festival which enjoyed headline performances by Kings of Leon and Duran Duran, amongst many others.
