Guy was educated at Christian Brothers Line Wall College, Gibraltar, and finished his education at Beaumont College, Old Windsor. He read Law at Pembroke College, Oxford, where he obtained a M.A.
On completing his year of studies in London he was called to the Bar in England in 1952 by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and in Gibraltar in the following year. He practised in London for two years before returning to Gibraltar. He was an elected member of the City Council 1957 – 1964 and subsequently an elected member of the House of Assembly from 1964 – 1969 during which time he was Minister for Public Relations. He was Deputy Mayor of Gibraltar from 1965 – 1966 and 1968 – 1969. He also Chaired the Transport Committee from 1974 – 1986 and was a member of the Board of Charity Commissioner until 1996 when he appointed Gibraltar’s Chief Charity Commissioner. In 1994 he was appointed Knight Commander with Star of the Order of St Gregory the Great by Pope John Paul II.
He took silk in 1985 and was Chairman of the General Council of the Bar in Gibraltar from 1996 – 1998. Until the merger in 2001 he was Senior Partner of Stagnetto & Co. |
