James Neish QC


James qualified with LLB Hons from Nottingham University and was called to the Bar in England and Wales, and Gibraltar in 1979. He joined Louis W Triay in the same year, forming a partnership with him shortly afterwards. He was appointed notary public in 1985 and took silk in 1999.

His areas of work are commercial law and litigation. However his main area of work is undoubtedly litigation and he is recognised as one of Gibraltar’s leading litigators. He appears regularly before the Gibraltar Court of Appeal, as well as the Supreme Court.

James holds various appointments and is chairman of various statutory boards. He was a member of the Financial Services Commission from 2000 to 2006. He is a member of the Specified Appointments Commission and Judicial Service Commission and is currently the chairman of the General Council of the Bar in Gibraltar.
