Philip Vasquez has a varied practice, predominantly involving matters of commerce, technology and dispute resolution.
Typically advising small to medium sized businesses on commercial law, regulation, technology and dispute resolution, Philip also appears regularly in the Magistrates & Supreme Court. Philip advises & enjoys contributing to policy discussions on new and growing businesses and technology. In particular, Philip is significantly active in the distributed ledger technology and fintech space.
Philip was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2014 having achieved a ‘Very Competent’ in his Bar Professional Training Course. He was subsequently called to the Bar of Gibraltar in July 2015. Philip read Law and Sociology (LLB) at Cardiff University and holds a Masters in Law (LLM) in Third Party Litigation Funding which he obtained in 2015 from City University London, having studied part-time. In 2016 he was in the first class to obtain a Professional Certificate of Competency in Gibraltar Law from the University of Gibraltar.
Philip is a member of the Gibraltar Bar Council, the Council responsible for regulation and professional standards of the legal profession in Gibraltar; a board member of the Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses; and was an Organiser of the Gibraltar Startup Community from 2015-17. Philip also writes regularly in his free time, having published a book and producing content almost on a monthly basis for various providers or simply online. You can find him most long weekends skiing, surfing or travelling.
